Become a Fieldwork Educator with the PNWU School of OT

Are you interested in becoming a Fieldwork Educator?

It takes dedicated and caring therapists like you to prepare the next generation of occupational therapists. Fieldwork education is the vital link between our academic program and real-world experience that students need to evolve into practitioners. As a fieldwork educator, you are eligible to receive continuing education hours and will make a valuable contribution to the profession of OT.

Future occupational therapy students at the Pacific Northwest University will participate in 6 fieldwork placements designed to prepare them for practice across the life course in a variety of settings.

Level I Fieldwork placements are short-term rotations designed to address the occupational needs of infants, children, adolescents, and adults/older adults in traditional, medical, non-traditional, and emerging practice settings. Students can be supervised by licensed health care professionals, which may include, but not limited to, occupational therapy practitioners, physical therapists, speech-language pathologists, special education teachers, and/or recreational therapists. Future PNWU OT students will participate in 4 Level I Fieldwork placements in pediatrics, adult/older adults, psychosocial/mental health, and emerging/non-traditional practice.

Level II Fieldwork placements are 12-week rotations designed to prepare students for entry-level practice. Students must be supervised by a licensed occupational therapist with 1-year of practice experience. Some unique emerging practice settings may not have full-time OTs but can still provide fieldwork supervision if the OT has 3-years of practice experience. Level II Fieldwork rotations will take place at the end of the program after students finish their coursework.

Students will need Level II Fieldwork Educators to supervise them January to March/April 2025 and April to July 2025 for Level II Fieldwork.
