On Friday, March 15, PNWU celebrated Match Day 2024. At the time of this writing, 97.3% of our College of Osteopathic Medicine’s Class of 2024 who sought residency placements achieved them. Over 60% of those residencies are in primary care specialties.
“I could not be more proud of the Class of 2024. Their care for community and commitment to mission inspire me, and is reflected in this outstanding match.”
Dr. Michael Lawler, President of PNWU
“Matching into a residency program is a significant milestone on the long and arduous journey to become a licensed physician,” said Dean of PNWU-COM Thomas Scandalis, DO. “It is a testament to both the accomplished student and the dedicated and experienced faculty and staff who have artfully guided them along the way.”
“Match Day is a testament to our mission,” said PNWU Provost Dr. Wayne Miller. “Many of our residency placements are in the Pacific Northwest, with most of those in the State of Washington, and most of our students placed in primary care specialties.”
Dr. Miller added that students focusing on other specialties matched in highly competitive programs throughout the country. “In speaking with some of them, I found they wanted to bring back these skills to the Pacific Northwest, where providers with these specialty skills are lacking,” he said.
