Admission Application Update: Class of 2029

The Pacific Northwest University School of Dental Medicine (PNWU-SDM) admissions process will begin in August 2024. PNWU-SDM is in the process of becoming an accredited program through the Commission of Dental Accreditation (CODA). For the application process to begin, PNWU-SDM must be approved first; we are currently scheduled for an appointment with CODA in April 2024 and expect CODA approval of our initial accreditation status to occur in early August. We are providing this information to interested students as this initial application process will be slightly different due to the accreditation process.

Prior to August 2024, you can create an account and create your application via ADEA. You will be able to select our program once applications are open in August 2024. An email notification will be sent out by PNWU-SDM when the application portal is open. Please do not attempt to submit any documents to PNWU-SDM or the PNWU admission office in the interim.

Once applications open (August 2024), the following processes and procedures will occur:

  • Step 1: AADSAS will forward your application and required documents to the school. AADSAS will provide notifications; however, you may check the status of your application by clicking Check Status on your AADSAS account dashboard. PLEASE DO NOT CONTACT PNWU-SDM or the PNWU admissions office regarding your application status.

  • Step 2: The PNWU-SDM Admissions Committee receives applications from AADSAS to begin to review applications.

  • Step 3: The PNWU-SDM Admissions Committee will select applicants to move to stage two of the review process, and the PNWU admissions office will notify selected applicants of an “Invitation for Interview.”
    •  Selected applicants will be scheduled for an in-person interview at PNWU-SDM. The PNWU admissions office will request any additional documents during this phase, such as additional letters of recommendation, job shadowing documentation, and community service documentation (please see the SDM website for template forms we have created for applicants to track shadowing and community service activities). Please only send additional information once the admissions office requests it.
    • Applicants who have hardships and cannot attend an in-person interview will be directed to contact the admissions office, and a determination will be made if a virtual interview will be offered.
    • Casper and Kira Talent Assessments: Applicants invited for an interview must complete a Casper and Kira Talent online before the interview. The school will cover the cost of both assessments. The interview invitation letter will provide information on how to access the assessments. You may use the Casper assessment you completed for another application for the PNWU application – there is no need to retake the examination. You must perform a new Kira Talent assessment, as each is unique to the school and program you are applying to.

  • Step 4: Following the interview process, the PNWU-SDM Admission Committees will make final admissions decisions, and initial notifications will go out in early December, per the date set by AADSAS. A rolling acceptance process will follow this initial wave of notifications until the class is filled.
