Land Acknowledgment

PNWU recognizes that long before our founders had a vision for a health sciences university in Yakima, the land where the university is built has been cared for from time immemorial by the fourteen Confederated Tribes and Bands of the Yakama Nation. We stand unified in our reverence for the land and all the elements of nature that make up our campus.

The Yakima Valley

PNWU is rich in diversity, embracing an enticing mixture of breathtaking landscape, culture, and fresh opportunities that surround us in the valley of Yakima, Washington. Yakima’s downtown district is home to a burgeoning mecca of fine restaurants and eateries. Most are locally owned, using local produce to create authentic recipes.

The Yakima Valley is also the second-largest premium wine producer in the United States, with hundreds of wineries located throughout the valley. Within an hours’ drive in any direction awaits a myriad of recreational activities such as skiing, snowboarding, rafting, mountain biking, rock climbing, fly-fishing, boating, camping, and hiking just to name a few. Yakima is a place where home and living unite, breeding the true spirit of the Pacific Northwest into the University of Health Sciences that resides here.

Regional Locations

In addition to our campus in Yakima, WA, our students have the opportunity to complete clinical rotations throughout our five-state region of Alaska, Montana, Idaho, Oregon, and Washington.
