The Space is a gathering place sponsored by Yakima Neighborhood Health for LGBTQ and allied youth (age 13-23) to feel safe. The Space has room to work on homework, use computers, play games, work on crafts, eat a snack, and participate in activities. Appointments with a behavioral health specialist can also be made and a psychologist is on-site for group or single sessions.

The workers are trained Neighborhood Health staff and volunteers.

BESTY Residential Program for Young Women

BESTY, or Broadening Education and Self Sufficiency for Translational Youth, is also sponsored by Neighborhood Health. It is a home for young at-risk women that are aging out of foster care. Residents will receive help with rent, employment, training, and college.

SAFE LGBTQ of Yakima

SAFE LGBTQ of Yakima is a nonprofit that hosts monthly meetings and a social group to discuss upcoming events, ways to bring the community together, and other topics.

Aspen, Victim Advocacy Services

Comprehensive Healthcare’s Aspen Victim Advocacy Services serve victims of sexual assault and other crimes against people. Our services include medical advocacy, legal advocacy, and general advocacy for victims in Yakima and Kittitas Counties. We provide community education and prevention training and provide Domestic violence services and shelter in Kittitas County.

Rod’s House

Rod’s House is a resource for youth and young adults experiencing homelessness and housing instability. We believe ALL YOUNG PEOPLE deserve support and the chance to succeed.

Rod’s House is a resource center for homeless and at-risk youth ages 13-24. We offer immediate needs care by providing a hot meal, food and hygiene, a pantry, a clothing bank, and laundry facilities. Rod’s House helps youth to exit homelessness and to reach their full potential by assisting them with educational and employment opportunities. Rod’s House also provides a safe environment free from drugs, violence, and gang activity.

    • Audre Lorde Scholarship designed to recognize “out” black lesbians, making significant contributions to their community. ZAMI NOBLA wants to support and encourage their continuing education by providing scholarships to those women enrolled in accredited technical, undergraduate and graduate programs.

    • The Levin-Goffe Scholarship Fund was established to cover up to two years of schooling for immigrants here in New York City who identify as LGBTQI. Scholarships from this fund are intended to provide a measure of economic stability for those who stand at the intersection of marginalization that can be created by being both LGBTQI and an immigrant.   • The Traub-Dicker Rainbow Scholarship was established by Peggy Traub and Phyllis Dicker to encourage and support lesbian women in their pursuit of higher education. This program provides one-year scholarships of $1,500 or $3,000 to those graduating high school or already enrolled in college in any year of study, including graduate school. Scholarships are paid directly to the recipient’s school and are applied toward tuition. Applications due in June

Students are selected to be recipients of The 49 Fund Education Scholarship based upon their academic performance and their leadership within the LGBTQ community. If selected for The 49 Fund Educational Scholarship, students will receive a scholarship in the amount of $4,900 in remembrance of the forty-nine people who were tragically killed during the Pulse Night Club Shooting. Students will be able to use that money at the college or university of their choosing.

If selected for the SOULE Scholarship, students will receive $2,500 for the college or university of their choosing.
