Trustee, Class of 2018
Dr. Gibbons grew up in Zillah, Washington. She attended Lincoln Elementary School in Toppenish before transferring to St. Joseph Marquette, after which she ultimately graduated as valedictorian of La Salle High School’s Class of 2008. While pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience from the Washington State University Honors College, she was involved in pain neuropharmacology and affective neuroscience research. Following completing these projects and publishing in Brain Research, Dr. Gibbons co-founded the PNWU-COM Neuroscience Club and the associated journal article review club for the COM. After graduating with the Class of 2018, she joined the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, graduating her four-year residency in 2022. While there, she published articles on the management of SARS-CoV-2 infection and COVID in patients with spinal cord injury and served as a frontline physician. Her residency included work at University Hospital, a level-one trauma facility, and at the largest Veterans Affairs hospital in the country. In addition, Dr. Gibbons is grateful for the opportunity to medically train at St. Luke’s Rehabilitation Hospital, Mayo Clinic, Marianjoy Rehabilitation Hospital, Sacred Heart, and Pullman Regional Hospital. These hospitals offered her exposure to Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Neurosurgery, and Orthopedic Surgery experiences that were extremely valuable early in her career and inform her practice to this day.
Dr. Gibbons works at the MultiCare Yakima Memorial Lakeview Clinic. Main areas of her practice include musculoskeletal and sports medicine, neurorehabilitation including post-stroke, spinal cord injury, polytrauma, and spasticity procedures, ultrasound-guided procedures, and electrodiagnostics. She finds Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment to be helpful on a daily basis and is grateful to have initially learned these skills at PNWU-COM before honing them throughout the years.
Her hobbies include swimming, travel, astronomy, hiking, and Broadway musicals.
