Dr Potts received her undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of Washington. She completed her Internal Medicine Residency at the University of Washington where she also served as the Chief Resident in Primary Care.

Dr Potts has practiced at Virginia Mason since 1993 and served in multiple leadership roles, most recently as the Chief of the Primary Care department from 2010-2016 where she oversaw the alignment and integration of primary care services throughout the organization – including the Seattle Main Campus Section of General Internal Medicine, Pediatrics Sections, and VM’s eight regional medical center locations. She was also involved in the administrative oversight of the Internal Medicine Graduate Medical Education Program. Her administrative duties at this time include facilitating the integration of the ambulatory division with Virginia Mason Memorial.

Dr Potts also is Lean Certified, and has extensive experience in the redesign of the medical care delivery system utilizing the principles of the Toyota and Virginia Mason Production Systems. She also served for three years as a systems board member for Peace Health.
