A group of educators and clinicians has developed and published a list of teaching competencies for community preceptors found in the article entitled “Teaching Competencies for Community Preceptors”. Drs. Brink, Simpson, Crouse, Morzinski, Bower, and Westra recognized that medical educators heavily adjudicate the skills, competencies and behaviors of our students, but little research or structure existed to describe competencies of community preceptors until their published work in Family Medicine in 2017. Read the full article.
The five competency domains described will be the backbone for the faculty development components found within these page.
- Learner centeredness
- Interpersonal and Communication Skills
- Professionalism and Role Modeling
- Practice-Based Reflection and Improvement
