These are exciting times for the PNWU MSOT program. A little over a year ago, the university embarked on the largest expansion construction project in its history. In over three years, the university has launched three new programs, with a fourth new program scheduled to start in 2025. Together, the new programs will double the size of the current student body.
With growth comes the need for more space! The Student Learning Collaborative (SLC) will house instructional spaces for the MSOT program. The SLC is currently in Phase 1 of its construction, with Phase 2 scheduled to begin in the spring of 2024. Phase 1 (where the OT classrooms will be) will be 53,000 sq. feet, and the SLC Phase 2 will add 30,000 sq. ft. of space for classrooms, simulation, and student amenities. The MSOT spaces will be finished in June 2023, just ahead of the incoming cohort. The new building will boast a new Activities of Daily Living/Performance lab, a custom pediatric sensory gym and laboratory, active learning classrooms, and a state-of-the-art simulation center.
We recently caught up with the SOT team as they toured the construction site. “This is going to be such an amazing resource for our students. Not only will they receive a high-quality and innovative education, but they will learn in a brand-new, state-of-the-art facility. We are so excited to be launching the new program in this new space”, said Dr. Fritz, the Founding Director of the School of Occupational Program.
