PNWU Caps Week of Service and Scholarship Support with Grand Opening of Delta Dental Equity Hall

This September, PNWU hosted our second-annual week of giving, Care, Connect, Forward. Honoring our graduates and our mission-driven students, the week of activities aimed to enhance opportunities for future PNWU students committed to serving rural and medically underserved communities. This singular focus provided  a foundation for all events held during the week, culminating in the grand opening of Delta Dental Equity Hall—the home of our School of Dental Medicine.

In tribute to late President Dr. Michael Lawler’s lifelong dedication to service, PNWU designated September 23-27 as the Michael J. Lawler Week of Service. During this time, students, faculty, and community members engaged in impactful service projects that uplifted those in need, embodying Dr. Lawler’s vision of compassion and connection.

The spirit of giving resonated deeply within our community, inspiring many to extend a helping hand—an embodiment of our collective mission to care for one another. As our students and graduates continue their inspiring work, we are dedicated to enhancing opportunities for those called to care, reflecting the values central to Care, Connect, Forward.

A key highlight of the week was the launch of The Mission Fund, designed to empower students from all five health sciences programs to provide essential care in rural and underserved communities. This initiative exemplifies our commitment to Care, Connect, Forward, creating pathways for aspiring healthcare providers to make meaningful contributions where they are needed most.

The week culminated on Saturday, September 28, with the Delta Dental Equity Hall Ribbon Cutting Ceremony, where nearly 200 distinguished guests gathered to celebrate this significant addition to our university. This new facility will serve as a vital space for advancing dental education and enhancing community health, reinforcing our commitment to nurturing connections that empower progress.

Following the ribbon cutting, PNWU hosted a Scholarship Dinner, underscoring the critical importance of educational support. This heartfelt gathering raised $114,543 for PNWU Student Scholarships, aided by matching gifts from members of PNWU’s Board of Trustees. The evening featured inspiring speeches from alumni, current students, and university leaders, all reinforcing the connections that propel us forward.

We extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who participated in the week’s events and supported our mission and scholarships. Your presence and contributions are vital to our success and the realization of a healthier future for all. Together, we embody the spirit of Care, Connect, Forward.
