Last month, PNWU’s Schools of Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy celebrated a significant milestone by hosting their first-ever joint recruitment fair. Spearheaded by Dr. Jami Flick, the event attracted 40 agencies from across the Pacific Northwest, all eager to connect with aspiring OTs and DPTs.
“This marks a momentous occasion for PNWU and reflects the growth and development of both programs,” said Kathleen Carrillo, executive assistant for PNWU’s School of OT. “With an ongoing shortage of occupational and physical therapists, the need for such initiatives has never been more critical.”
During the inaugural event, attendees heard firsthand from local agencies about the recruitment and retention challenges they face, underscoring the importance of our university’s mission and the establishment of these programs.
“The organizations were drawn to our mission and specifically sought out our PNWU students to meet the needs of their rural and underserved populations.”
“The organizations were drawn to our mission and specifically sought out our PNWU students to meet the needs of their rural and underserved populations,” explained Dr. Jami Flick, Director of Clinical Education for the School of OT. “All the recruiters shared how impressed they were with the facilities and our professional students they networked with today.”
“In talking with the multiple vendors at the career fair, it is clear how important our PT and OT programs are,” added Dr. Peggy Trueblood, Program Director and Professor for the School of PT. “It was truly a great career fair, and we will definitely make this an annual event.”
