The purpose of the Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences – School of Dental Medicine (SDM) Leadership Council is to support the school’s mission and vision through education, advancement and philanthropy.
The Leadership Council is a group of trusted advisors who represent a wide range of professions and vocations and are committed to the SDM’s mission to educate the next generation of primary care dentists.

Marsha Butler, DDS
Dr. Marsha Butler is currently the President of The Butler Initiative, LLC, a Professional Consulting, Executive Coaching and Education service based in Alpharetta, Georgia.
Dr. Butler is a transformative, executive leader coach and business consultant with global business experience supporting leaders across various sectors including consumer good, health and wellness, academia, technology and non-profit organizations.
For over 30 years, Dr. Butler served as Vice President, Global Oral Care, Colgate-Palmolive Company, responsible for global strategies, programs and policies that support Colgate’s professional and oral health initiatives around the world. Marsha interfaced with numerous international governments, dental and health organizations, academia, and NGO groups to promote programs aimed at the prevention of oral disease and the improvement of general and oral health.
Dr. Butler has served as an advisor on several academic and non-profit boards for many years. When asked how she felt about being on the SDM Leadership Council, Marsha shared “I am so honored to serve on the Leadership Council. The PNWU School of Dental Medicine is in the forefront of promoting and revolutionizing community-based health, educating primary care dentists to provide optimum oral health in underserved communities. This truly aligns with my personal passion for community healthcare and reflects my values leveraged across my career.”
Dr. Butler is a graduate of Howard University College of Dentistry with a B.S. degree in Microbiology and Chemistry. Marsha has competed in numerous business and leadership programs from Stanford University Business School, Harvard TH Chan School of Public Health, Centers for Leadership, and several internal corporate leadership programs. Marsha has won numerous awards across a spectrum of public health, corporate leadership, from research institutions and media communications.
Marsha is pursuing several areas of keen interest such as writing short essays, books and mentoring young leaders and students along the way.
