A Milestone Year

PNWU’s 2025 Run for Your Life 5K/10K and Health Fair Sets New Records for Participation and Fundraising

On March 1, 2025, over 450 people gathered on our health sciences campus for the highly anticipated Run for Your Life (RFYL) 5k/10k Fun Run/Walk and Health Fair. This annual event, organized by PNWU students, was not just about running — it was a celebration of health, community, and giving back to a cause that impacts future healthcare professionals.

A PWNU tradition since its inception in 2011, the annual event brings together the Yakima Valley community to promote healthier lifestyles while raising funds for a cause that’s close to the heart of the university. All proceeds from RFYL support PNWU student scholarships, which help us eliminate the financial barriers that stand between our students and their mission-fulfilling aspirations.

This year’s event exceeded expectations, raising an impressive $20,920. Participants, ranging from competitive runners to families out for a fun day of walking, made their way through the Terrace Heights-based race, supporting our mission with every step.

“I am overjoyed with how successful the event was!” exclaimed PNWU Student Doctor Alessandra de la Cruz, who helped to lead this year’s event. “The turnout was amazing, and the amount of community involvement was spectacular. I am excited to see this event continue to grow.”

PNWU’s annual Run for Your Life provides a family-friendly atmosphere, with health fair vendors, fitness stations, and wellness activities for all ages, reinforcing PNWU’s commitment to supporting healthy lifestyles.

With more participants than ever and record-breaking funds raised, the 2025 RFYL was an overwhelming success.

For Alexa Dodd, Assistant Director of Alumni Relations and Annual Giving, the day was a reminder of the power of community. “It was an amazing day,” said Dodd. “To see our community come together for this event in support of our students was incredibly inspiring. We can’t wait to see everyone again next year!”
