Sean Hancock MSPA PA-C

Assistant Professor of Family Medicine

Sean M. Hancock, MSPA, PA-C is a physician assistant who has been working in the Yakima area since he graduated from the inaugural class of Heritage University’s Physician Assistant Education Program in 2016.  He presently works in Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital’s Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine departments, having previously worked in internal medicine and with underserved populations at Yakima Neighborhood Health Services.  He also served on the faculty as an associate professor for the Physician Assistant program at Heritage University for 3 years.  Sean retired from the United States Navy as a Chief Petty Officer in 2012, after serving as a hospital corpsman for 21 years; his primary area of experience was cardiovascular and critical care medicine, although he also has worked in emergency medicine, prehospital emergency medicine, and primary care medicine.  He also was a graduate of the Navy’s Instructor school, where he then served as an educator for the Surface Force Independent Duty Corpsman and Cardiovascular Technician programs; during his 6 years as a Navy instructor, he received his Master Training Specialist designation, was selected as the 2006 Junior Instructor of the Year for the Naval School of Health Sciences in San Diego, and was awarded the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal.  He is a member of the Yakima County Sheriff’s Office’s search and rescue team.  Sean lives in Yakima with his wife, Gloria, and their 6 cats.  Besides education, Sean enjoys the outdoors, bicycling, marksmanship, and reading.
