Mr. Langstraat serves as the Chief Financial Officer for the Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences. He brings over 40 years of financial, operational, and administrative experience including over ten years of leadership experience in higher education. Prior to PNWU he served as Vice President for Finance and Administration at Pacific University, where he provided leadership and direction for Finance, Budget, Human Resources, Financial Aid, Capital Projects, Campus Public Safety, Facilities, Technology, HIPPA Compliance, Legal Services, and Emergency Management and Business Continuity. At Pacific, Langstraat developed a financial strategy to support the university’s strategic plan while providing stewardship for all financial resources at the school. His there include delivering balanced budgets each year; generating annual operating surpluses; clean audit reports; co-writing the six-year accreditation self-report; all while delivering a financial responsibility score of 3.0, the highest score possible. Langstraat provided similar leadership and achieved countless milestones during a six-year stint as a VP for Portland Community College.
In addition to that experience, Langstraat brings 15 years of financial leadership experience from his time at the North Clackamas School District, the Waterloo Community School District and the Norwalk Community School District. He was very successful in navigating the often confusing and complex issues of generating substantial bonding funds for the district, included recommending changes to the bond structure resulting in premium funds. He also wrote grants netting the district additional millions for important projects. His extensive professional experience also includes a term in the State Auditor’s Office in Des Moines, Iowa and a C.P.A. firm, also in Iowa. Mr. Langstraat also serves as an accreditation reviewer for the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities.
