Dr. Michael J Scott is a Seattle Dermatologist and Director of the Seattle Dermatology Center. He is Board Certified in General Medical and Surgical Dermatology, Pediatric Dermatology, Preventive Medicine and Public Health. He also has an interest in Sports Dermatology, which he lectures on locally and nationally, having worked as a United States Olympic Committee Physician Crew Chief.
After the University of Washington, he attended A.T. Still University Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine, and completed his Dermatology residency at Northwestern University School of Medicine.
Dr. Scott is Professor of Clinical Medicine and Chief of Dermatology at the Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences and is their Faculty representative for the Dermatology club. As a strong supporter of Osteopathic medicine, Dr Scott has had a career long commitment to the Washington State Osteopathic Medical Association and the American Osteopathic College of Dermatology. Within the AOCD, he has been instrumental in developing updated standards for the recertification examinations, the annual board exams, and its residency programs. He has served as President of WOMA and AOCD and is the current Chair of the American Osteopathic Board of Dermatology.
At local, national, and international medical societies, Dr. Scott volunteers and holds numerous other leadership positions. He is a frequent guest lecturer, moderator, and program director at national Dermatology meetings. Dr. Scott enjoys the mentorship he continuously provides for undergraduate pre-medicine students, PNWU medical students, and Dermatology residents nationwide. He has numerous research publications in dermatology, sports medicine, and public health journals. The incorporation of research topics into his curriculum and teachings is an area he finds very rewarding. At PNWU, Dr. Scott highly values the time and collaboration he has with the university’s administration, faculty, and students.
